Thiruvananthapuram: The Political Affairs Committee of the Congress in Kerala has resolved that the Congress party should function in a united, determined and disciplined manner.
The Committee also supported K. Babu and observed that the vigilance enquiry against him was politically motivated and vindictive.
Briefing the media on the deliberations of the Committee, KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran said that the party would effectively fight political vendetta against Mr. Babu. The Vigilance Police could unearth no worthwhile evidence against Mr. Babu.
He had not reacted to the enquiry against Mr. Babu earlier so that he could be sure of the facts of the case before speaking on the issue.
Mr. Sudheeran said that the BJP was polarising the society. This was detrimental to the society.
AICC General Secretary Mukul Vasnik, who was also present, said that all district Congress committee presidents would be replaced soon. The process had started and the members of the Political Affairs Committee were to submit their recommendations. The selection will be based on image and capability. Younger people would be given preference wherever possible.
It is learnt that Mr. Sudheeran came under criticism at the Committee for not supporting Mr. Babu earlier.
