Kozhikode: A three-day meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party to plan its electoral strategy for the coming Assembly elections and Parliamentary election in 2019 began here on Friday.
Party president Amit Shah is chairing meetings of office bearers at the national level, Parliamentary Board members, national general secretaries and presidents of feeder organisations on Friday as prelude to the national council meeting to the attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.
Altogether, about 2500 delegates are attending the meetings including Union ministers and national leaders. The meeting being organised to coincide with the birth centenary of Jana Sangh ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhyaya.
The Prime Minister, who arrives here on Saturday, will address a public meeting in the city in the evening.
The crucial national council meeting is expected to decide and announce its poll plank for the coming elections and discuss the security situation in the country.
On the side lines of the meeting, talks are also expected with NDA constituent in Kerala, Bharat Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS), which is peeved by the BJP not honouring its promises to provide various positions to BDJS functionaries. Strategies for improving NDA’s support base in Kerala will also be discussed.
