Centre to provide assistance for projects for migrant workers

Minister for Labour and Excise addressing a press conference in Delhi New Delhi: The Central government will give assistance for a housing scheme for migrant workers in Kerala.

It will also provide assistance for the project drawn up by the State government for providing health insurance and smart card to migrant workers.

Minister for State for Labour and Employment Bangaru Dattatreya gave assurances to the State government in this respect in response to a memorandum submitted by Minister for Labour and Excise T. P. Ramakrishnan in Delhi on Thursday.

Mr. Dattatreya also promised to release Rs. 56 due to the State from ESI Corporation and take steps to upgrade selected ESI dispensaries.

Minister of State for Skill Development Rajiv Pratap Rudy promised assistance to upgrade industrial training institutes as multi-skill institutes. Steps would be taken for automatic affiliation of courses run by Kerala Academy for Skill and Excellence.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley agreed, in principle, to establishment of a de-addiction institute in Kerala when the State Minister called on him.
