Thiruvananthapuram: Liquor sales in Kerala during Onam have gone up in terms of turnover.
The sales during eight days ending on the eve of Thiruvonam (September 13) was of Rs. 409.55 crore against Rs. 353.08 crore during the corresponding period last year. This marks an increase of nearly 16 per cent.
Sales so far this month (till September 13) was of Rs. 532.34 crore. On Tuesday, liquor costing Rs. Rs. 58.01 was sold. This, however, was lower than that on the eve of Thiruvonam last year.
The highest sales of liquor is reported from Irinjalakudu – of Rs. 53.85 crore.
