Assembly to sit for 29 days

Thiruvananthapuram: The second session of the Assembly beginning on September 26 will have 29 sittings, stretching into November.

As per the calendar of sittings published by the Legislature Secretariat, the session will continue till November 10.  However, there will be a week’s break in the second week of October to coincide with Mahanavami and Muharram.

More than half of the sittings will be devoted to financial business with 13 days allocated for discussion and voting on the demand for grants pertaining to the current year’s Budget. The full Budget for the year is yet to be voted by the House as the previous government and the present government had gone for vote on account for first two quarters of the financial year.

The last days of October will be devoted for discussion of supplementary demands for grants for the current year and Appropriation Bills. The days in November is devoted to government business. (Friday’s are set apart for government and private members’ business, as usual).
