Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday decided to award the consultancy for preliminary works of light metro projects in Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
This will be subject to conditions. The consultancy for the entire project will be entrusted to the DMRC upon receipt of clearance from the Centre.
The Cabinet decided to appoint a deputy collector or subdivisional officer (revenue) with sufficient staff under him to speed up land acquisition for the projects. Nearly two hectares will be acquired for the Thiruvananthapuram metro project and 1.45 hectares for the Kozhikode project.
The Cabinet also decided to give administrative sanction for the construction of fly overs at Sreekaryam, Ulloor and Pattom, costing Rs. 272.84 crore. The funding will be done through the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board. It will be taken up as a turnkey project through the Kerala Rapid Transit Corporation.
