Vigilance enquiry against Mani to continue

K. M. ManiThiruvananthapuram: The vigilance court here has ordered that investigation into the bar-bribery case against former Minister K. M. Mani should be continued.

Superintendent of Police R. Sukesan, who had investigated the case earlier, had approached the court alleging that then Director of Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau had undermined the case.

In view of the allegation by the investigation officer himself, the Court directed that action should be taken to bring out the trust and retrieve evidence.

Mr. Sukesan had alleged that Director of the Bureau N. Sankar Reddy had pressed him to alter the case dairy. The Director also did not agree with recommendations that a charge-sheet against Mr. Mani should be filed.

Present Director Jacob Thomas said that anther officer would continue the investigations.

Veteran CPI (M) leader V. S. Achuthanandan said that the criminal case should be registered and investigated against Mr. Reddy in view of the order of the court.
