Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday decided to support the education of Krishna and Kishore who had been orphaned by the fireworks tragedy at Paravoor.
Their parents, Bensy and Baby Girija, were selling refreshments in the temple compound when the fireworks explosion claimed their lives. They had sent their children to the house of a relative just before the disaster.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told the media after the Cabinet meeting that the government would meet their educational expenses. It would also fund completion of their house which is under construction. The loan taken from the district cooperative bank by their parents would be paid back by the government.
The children are currently under the care of their grandparents. The Child Welfare Council is taking steps to get them out of shock caused by the death of parents. It will also support Krisha to continue with her sports training.
