Thiruvananthapuram: Committee on the Welfare of Youth and Youth Affairs has called for immediate appointment all who have been advised for jobs in government service Public Service Commission (PSC).
In its report presented to the Assembly on Wednesday, the Committee also recommended action against heads of department who failed to report vacancies in time.
The Committee said that urgent action should be taken on entrusting appointment of teachers in universities to PSC. Procedures for entrusting appointments to all public sector undertakings to PSC should be completed in a time bound manner. When a law is enacted to leave appointments to an institution to the PSC, the rules for the same should be framed without delay.
The Committee recommended that applicants should be allowed to correct errors occurring during online submission of applications due to ignorance. The information provided at the PSC Website should be simplified and updated regularly.
It suggested that maximum number of persons should be given appointment from existing rank lists. In future, the number of candidates included in the rank list should be fixed in proportion to vacancies.
It also proposed that provision should be made for free submission of applications to PSC through Akshaya kendras for economically backward classes.
The Chairman of the Committee Joseph Vazhackan and member V.T Belram told the media that the committee had formulated its recommendations, numbering 38, after considering petitions received from the youth. No complaint had been received about corruption behind extension of rank lists.
