Thiruvananthapuram: The Cabinet on Wednesday gave administrative sanction to spent Rs. 189 crores for preparatory works for extending Kochi Metro line from Nehru Stadium to Kakkanad via Infopark.
The line is proposed to be extended by 11 km to improve its efficiency and financial viability, and sanction for preparatory works is being given expecting Central clearance for the extension. The works include repair and widening of roads and acquisition of land. The extension will cost Rs. 2024 crores.
Policy on children
The Cabinet approved State policy on children. The policy proposes measures to ensure security and protection of children, especially the marginalized children. It covers rights to survival, protection, development and participation in society.
The Cabinet sanctioned Rs. 45 crores for building an office complex at Pattom for housing various commissions. It extended the time limit for one time settlement scheme of State Housing Board till June 30.
Conversion of paddies
It permitted return of 50 per cent of the paddy land acquired for Kodimatha Mobility Hub to the land owners with permission to convert the land. Land pooling is being used for the project.
