Technological university has not outsourced conduct of examinations: Minister

Minister for Education Abdu RubbThiruvananthapuram: Education Minister P. K. Abdu Rubb told the Assembly today that the Kerala Technological University had had not outsourced conduct of its examinations. It had only outsourced the software.

Replying to the debate on the Kerala Public Service Commission (Additional Functions as Respects the Universities) Bill, the Minister said that system was introduced for speeding up publication of results. A discussion will be held with students and others concerned today and the University would go ahead with the plan only on the basis of decisions taken at the meeting.

Mr. Rubb said that the Bill was brought because of widespread complaints about appointments by the University.

Mr. P. C. Vishnunath said that the best persons were not getting appointed to the universities. University bodies such as Senate were spending most of its time for discussion on service matters.

The House later passed the Bill. The Bill seeks to entrust staff appointments in the 12 universities of the State to the Public Service Commission.
