UDF seat sharing talks nowhere near closure

Thiruvananthapuram: Seat sharing talks in the UDF is nowhere near closure even as the Congress is planning to take its draft list of candidates to Delhi for approval of Congress high command on Sunday.

The Congress held discussions with Muslim League on Thursday but no decision could be reached. Differences persisted over seats being offered by Congress in lieu of Eravipuram and Kunnamangalam which was contested by the League in the last elections. Congress is not willing to spare Karunagappally demanded by League in lieu of Eravipuram. League is also not willing to accept Balusseri in place of Kunnamangalam.

The talks will continue on Saturday.  Seat sharing with other constituents also remain to be concluded.

The Congress is planning to announce its candidates by the end of this month.
