Thiruvananthapuram: More than a third of the members of the 13th Legislative Assembly (excluding ministers) have not fully used the reimbursement facility available to them for purchase of books, information obtained under RTI Act shows.
As per rule brought in 2013, members are eligible to seek reimbursement of up to Rs. 15000 a year. So, the members of the last Assembly was eligible for a total of Rs. 60000 in four years.
However, K. Achuthanan, P. A. Madhavan, Shafi Parambil and C. F. Thomas have sought no reimbursement during these years according to list furnished by State Public Information Officer under Right to Information Act to D. B. Binu of Kerala RTI Federation.
K. T. Jaleel, P. C. Vishnunath, A. T. George, K. S. Saleekha and Abdusamad Samadani have made claims for only a single year. Mr. Samadani claimed Rs. 5513 only though he was eligible for Rs. 15000. There are many others who have not made claims for one or two years.
The reimbursements are made against declaration by members with bills. Ministers are not covered.

Words cannot entice them, nor books seduce; in a totally literate state, by reading books what one is trying to prove, these representatives of people seems to ask.Considering the fact that they do not have time even to read legislature papers, can one expect the ones produced the bills and claimed money for books, would read any of the books!In that case the ones never claimed money producing bills are the ones who stand near truth...
