Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told the Assembly today that the pay revision for government employees would be announced at the end of January or early in February next year.
Replying to the notice for adjournment motion given by A. K. Balan (CPI-M) alleging delay in implementation of revision, the Chief Minister said that the government was committed to time bound implementation of the recommendations. There was no need for the employees to go on strike for pay revision.
Mr. Chandy said that the LDF government too had implemented the pay commission report in the last year of its governance—February 2011.
Mr. Balan said that pay revision had been delayed by one and a half years. The employees were planning strike in January.
Opposition Leader V. S. Achuthanandan urged that the employees should not be forced into a strike. tHE government was trying to deny arrears to the employees and undermine the revision. The report should be implemented with retrospective effect and full benefit to pensioners.
