Onam Week Celebrations inaugurated

Thiruvananthapuram: “People should join hands above caste and religious considerations to establish equality. This was the message of Onam,” Chief Minister Pinarai Vijayan said here on Monday.

Inaugurating the Onam Week Celebrations, the Chief Minister said that Onam reminded one of a period of equality.

He said that the government had done everything needed for common man including tribals to celebrate Onam.

Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan said that Keralites should aim for environment-friendly Onam Celebrations.

Play back singers K. J. Yesudas and P. Jayachandran were honoured at the function. Tourism Minister A. C. Moideen presided.
