Muslim League announces candidates for 20 seats

IUMLMalappuram: Muslim League announced candidates for its 20 sitting seats. Candidates for four seats will be announced after seat sharing talks with Congress.

League State president Hyderali Shihab Thangal said that all the five ministers of the party would contest from their sitting seats. Industries Minister P. K. Kunhalikutty would contest from Vengara and Minister for Panchayats and Social Welfare M. K. Muneer from Kozhikode South.  

Minister for Urban Affairs and Minority Welfare Manjalamkuzhi Ali and Minister for Public Works V. K. Ebrahim Kunju would contest from Perinthalmanna and Kalamassery. Education Minister P. K. Abdu Rubb would contest from Tirurangadi.

The following are the other candidates with constituency in brackets.

Mr. Kunhalikutty said that new faces and youth had been given representation in the candidates list. The party had contested from Kuttiyadi, Kunnamangalam, Guruvayoor and Eravipuram last time. There was some possibility of exchange of a few of these seats with other parties in the UDF.

Four sitting members of the Assembly from League are not getting seats. Of them, KNA Khader is named as Malappuram district secretary of the party. C. Moinkutty wil be new secretary in Kozhikode.
