Integrated check posts to have data facilitation centres

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Cabinet on Thursday decided to set up data facilitation centres at important entry points to the State by road as part of integrated check post system.

The new system will facilitate acquisition of data and images needed by different departments at a single point and their sharing among the departments.  A Cabinet subcommittee with Finance Minister T. M. Thomas Isaac as convenor has been formed for implementation of the proposal. Ministers for Revenue, Forest, Transport, Civil Supplies and Excise will be members of the committee.

The State has about 84 check posts. Currently there are separate check posts for departments of commercial taxes, excise, transport, forest, animal husbandry and food safety. This often caused many procedures issues and inconveniences. Hence, the proposal for integrated check posts.

Open defecation-free State
The Cabinet also decided to declare the State as open defecation free State. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be invited to the function to he held on November 1 for making the declaration.
