Darvesh Saheb, Jacob Thomas among winners of police medals

New Delhi: Dr. Shaik Darvesh Saheb, Additional Director General of Police (Vigilance), Kerala, has won the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service, announced on the occasion of Independence Day.

Dr. Jacob Thomas, Director, Vigilance & Anti- Corruption Bureau, Thiruvananthapuram; P. A. Varghese, DySP ,Perinthalmanna Sub Division, Malappuram; T. Mohanan Nair, Asst Commissioner of Police (Traffic) , North Subdivision Thiruvananthapuram City; Kurikesh Mathew, Deputy Commandant, MSP ,Malappuram; V. Ajith, DySP, SBCID ,Kottayam; V . V. Thrivikraman Namboothiry ,SI, SBCID, Kottayam; K. L. Anil, Senior Civil Police Officer, SCRB, Pattom; N. Jayachandran, Driver HC T 9073 (ASI Gr.), Police Headquarters, Thiruvananthapuram; R. Mahesh, DySP, VACB, Thiruvananthapuram and M.T. Antony ,ASI, VACB, Alappuzha Unit won Police Medal for Meritorious Service from the State.

K. Sasi Kumar, Head Constable, at the CISF unit, LPSC, Valiamala and N. S. Raju, Head Constable/GD, Group Centre, Pallipuram and K. V. Sulochana, ASI/GD Mahila, Recruit Training Centre, Peringone, Kannur, also won police medals.

K. Somarajan, Assistant Superintendent Grade I, Sub Jail, Ernakulam and C. Rajeevan, Dy. Superintendent, Special Sub Jail, Thalassery got Correctional Service Medal for Meritorious Service.

President’s Fire Service Medal for Distinguished Service went to station officers K. Vasudevan, P. Sathyava Valsalam and S. S. Sanil Kumar in the State. Leading Fireman F.  Vijayakumar and Driver Mechanic A. Sathikumar  won medals for meritorious service.

Altogether, 948 personnel from across the country have been awarded Police Medals on the occasion of the Independence Day this year.  President’s Police Medal for Gallantry has been awarded to seven personnel, Police Medal for Gallantry to 170 personnel, President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service to 88 personnel and Police Medal for Meritorious Service to 683 personnel.

President’s Correctional Service Medal for Distinguished Service has been awarded to personnel and Correctional Service Medal for Meritorious Service to 17 personnel.
