CPI (M) draws up list of 11 ministers

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI (M) has proposed Dr. Thomas Isaac, G. Sudhakaran, E. P. Jayarajan, A. K. Balan and seven others as Ministers in the Pinarai Vijayan ministry.

The decision is to be finalised by the State Committee meeting here on Monday.

The other names proposed are A. C. Moideen, K. K. Shylaja, C. Raveendranath, Kadakampally Surendran, T. P. Ramakrishnan, J. Mercykutty Amma and K. T. Jaleel. Mr. Jaleel had contested the election as an independent supported by the LDF.

P. Sreeramakrishnan, who was elected from Ponnani, is proposed as Speaker.

All Secretariat members of the party except M. M. Mani from Udumbanchola are in the list of ministers. Eight of the proposed ministers will be becoming ministers for the first time.

The LDF has decided that there should be 19 ministers. Of them, 12 including the Chief Minister will be that of CPI (M). The CPI will have four ministers. Other constituents—JD(S), NCP and Congress (S) will have one minister each. The Deputy Speakership will go to CPI. Allies such as Kerala Congress (B), Communist Marxist Party (Aravindakshan) and Revolutionary Socialist Party (Leninist,) which are not constituents of the LDF, will not have ministers. They would be accommodated in other positions.

It has been decided that the number of personal staff of ministers will be limited to 25. Persons aged above 60 years would not be included in the personnel staff.

The CPI is to decide on their ministers on Monday.
