Cathlabs for 10 hospitals

With this, the total number of government hospitals with cardiac catheterisation laboratories will increase to 16.

Of the 10 labs sanctioned, two will be under the Director of Medical Education and the rest under the Director of Health Services, Minister for Health K. K. Shylaja said in an official release.

She said that the new labs had been sanctioned to provide for cheap treatment of heart diseases when the number of patients with cardiac diseases was increasing.

Currently, only four medial colleges and the district hospitals at Palakkad and Ernakulam had cathlabs. Now, the Kollam district hospital, Pathanamthitta general hospital, Alappuzha general hospital, Kanjirappally taluk hospital, Thrissur general hospital and district hospitals at Tirur, Kannur and Kasaragod will have cathlabs.
