Cabinet clears proposals for infrastructure Fund

SecretariatThiruvananthapuram: Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday cleared proposals for raising funds for massive capital investment plan proposed in the Budget for the current year through Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board.

The Board is to raise funds through different types of bonds with government guarantee. An Ordinance will be brought to give legal backing for the scheme. The law will provide for earmarking cess on petrol and a certain share of motor vehicles taxes to the Board.

The Cabinet also decided to grant three more months’ moratorium on repayment of loans taken by victims of endosulfan for medical treatment.

It approved pay revision proposals for the employees of Roads and Bridges Development Corporation, Kochi.

The Cabinet  gave administrative sanction and special sanction for maintenance of 26 roads including 17 roads to Sabarimala in connection with pilgrimage to Sabarimala costing about Rs. 89.44 crore. These include works proposed by the High Court.

The Cabinet also took decisions for making land available for the proposed industrial training centre at Ranni in Pathanamthitta district and a modern driver testing yard at Meenachil in Kottayam district.

It exempted Kalayapuram Asraya Charitable Society, Kottarakkara, from paying Rs. 13.34 lakh for buying 1.84 hectare land.

The Cabinet also cleared appointment of 45 government pleaders.
