Thiruvananthapuram: Filing of nominations for Assembly elections began in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry which go to polls on May 16.
The notifications for the elections were issued in the morning.
About 10 leaders from main contesting parties and around 20 others filed their nominations for Assembly elections in Kerala on Friday.
Deputy Speaker N. Sakthan (Kattakada), Forest Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan (Kottayam), former Finance Minister K. M. Mani (Pala), BJP State president Kummaman Rajasekharan (Vattiyoorkavu), CPI (M) leader Kadakampally Surendran (Kazhakoottam), K. Muraleedharan (Congress-Vattiyoorkavu), M. M. Hassan (Congress-Chadayamangalam) and Padmaja Venugopal (Congress- Thrissur) were among those who filed their nominations.
Nominations will not be accepted on Saturday as it is a bank holiday.
