All party delegation may meet PM to take up Kerala’s concerns

New Delhi: An all-party delegation may meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take up State’s demands with the Central government.

This was discussed at a conference of the members of Parliament from Kerala held in New Delhi, chaired by Chief Minister Pinarai Vijayan. However, the Chief Minister is yet to get an appointment with the Prime Minister.

The issues proposed to be taken up with the Centre include the proposed merge of SBT and SBI and approval, in principle, granted for new port at Kulachal which would affect the prospects of Vizhinjam Port. These issue will be raised in Parliament.

The meeting saw criticism of the government’s refusal to release details of Cabinet decisions under the RTI Act. “It is breach rights of people,” Mullappally Ramachandran said.

Congress leader A. K. Antony said that his party was willing to offer support to the government on all matters affecting the people of Kerala.

BJP Member of the Parliament from the State Suresh Gopi and Congress Member of Parliament K. V. Thomas did not attend the conference.
