The Congress hopes to complete its selection of candidates for the Kerala Assembly elections by Saturday. However, many things regarding the choice of candidates remain contentious.
The Election Committee which met with party president Sonia Gandhi in the chair on Friday completed selection of candidates for about 50 per cent of the seats in which the Congress would be contesting. Choice of candidates for about 10 seats remains highly contentious including the sitting seats of tainted ministers.

Thiruvananthapuram: The imbroglio over finalising the candidate list of Congress for the Assembly elections continues.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi held discussions with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Home Minister Ramesh Chenitthala and KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran in New Delhi to resolve the issues. However, Mr. Chandy as well as Sudheeran was adamant over their stands.

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI State executive has given green signal for party ticket to former Minister C. Divakaran.
Mr. Divakaran will be given exemption from the party’s thumb rule that leaders would not be given ticket a third time consecutively. Along with Mr. Divakaran, six other sitting members were also given exemption.
