The container traffic through International Container Transshipment Terminal, Vallarpadam has improved.
The total traffic through the Terminal crossed last year’s traffic of 366376 TEUs (Twenty Foot Equivalent Units) last week. The container traffic is expected to touch about 4.15 lakh TEUs by the end of this financial year.

Cancers of the tongue, stomach, lung, breast and thyroid gland appears to have the highest incidence in Kerala.
Nearly 40 per cent of the cancer patients registered at the Regional Cancer Centre here between January 1, 2012 and March 31, 2015 had cancers of those sites. Highest number of deaths at the centre was of patients with stomach, lung and breast cancers.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Minister for Industries and IT P. K. Kunhalikutty, UAE Cabinet Affairs Minister and Chairman of Dubai Holding Mohammed Al Gargawi and Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy inaugurated the first phase Smart City Project in Kochi on Saturday.
The construction of the second phase of the project was also inaugurated at the function.
