Brisk polling in Kerala

Brisk polling is taking place in the elections to the Kerala Assembly on Monday.

The polling began at 7 am and heavy polling was reported from Kannur and Kozhikode districts. The pace of polling was slow in Thiruvananthapuram and Idukki districts. The overall polling percentage crossed 25 per cent by 11 am.

20 million voters to the polling booth in Kerala

About 20 million voters will be going to the polling booths on Monday to elect 140 representatives to the Kerala Assembly.

The State has an electorate of 26 million. About three fourth of them are expected to cast their votes.

The polling percentage in Kerala has never gone below 70 since 1960. In the last elections (2011), the polling percentage was 72.5 per cent.
