Five years of UDF government was golden age of opportunites, says Governor

Governor P. Sathasivam addressing Asssembly on FridayKerala Governor P. Sathasivam devoted most of his address to the Assembly today for highlighting the achievements of the government during the past (nearly) five years.

Describing those years as golden age of opportunities, the Governor recalled that the government had ensured realization of some of the major infrastructure projects in the State such as the Kochi Metro Rail and Kochi Smart City project. Test landing at Kannur airport will take place this month and work had started on Vizhijam seaport.

Kerala Governor chides Opposition

Opposition protesting in Kerala Asssembly on FridayGovernor P. Sathasivam today chided the Opposition which protested with banners in the Kerala Assembly against the Government during his address to the House.

The Governor told the Opposition to better keep quite or leave the House.  The Opposition left the House after a few minutes of protest.

The visit assist significance as the Centre is to decide shortly on clearance for the Athirappally Hydroelectric project.

Talking to the media, Mr. Javadekar demanded that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy should resign in view of allegations against him.

Cabinet sanctions five new colleges

Endosulfan victim Sruthi who gets assistance to pursue her studiesKerala Cabinet on Wednesday sanctioned five new arts and science colleges which had got all the approvals from the Universities concerned. One of these is in the government sector and the others in the private sector.

The Cabinet decided to carry out a scheme for development and empowerment of women from weaker sections of the society and those facing serious difficulties.

It sanctioned Rs. 4 lakh to endosulfan victim Sruthi for pursuing studies at a Homeo Medical College in Karnataka.
