96.59 per cent pass in Kerala SSLC examinations

Thiruvananthapuram: The pass percentage in SSLC Examination this year is 96.59 per cent.

As many as 1207 schools achieved cent per cent pass (eligibility for higher studies) in the examinations. The number of students with A+ grade went up to 22879.

The pass percentage this year was about two per cent less than last year. The highest pass percentage was in Pathanamthitta district and lowest in Wayanad district.

Most of the streams and rivers have dried up. Though occasional summer rain occurred in many parts of the State this month, the temperatures came down only for a few days.

Assembly polls: Leaders file nominations

Election Commission logoThiruvananthapuram: Filing of nominations for Assembly elections began in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry which go to polls on May 16.

The notifications for the elections were issued in the morning.

About 10 leaders from main contesting parties and around 20 others filed their nominations for Assembly elections in Kerala on Friday.

Fireworks tragedy: Government to take care of Krishna and Kishore

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday decided to support the education of Krishna and Kishore who had been orphaned by the fireworks tragedy at Paravoor.

Their parents, Bensy and Baby Girija, were selling refreshments in the temple compound when the fireworks explosion claimed their lives. They had sent their children to the house of a relative just before the disaster.

Cabinet committee to make on the spot study of property damage at Paravoor

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday decided to request Union Government to declare Kollam fireworks tragedy as national disaster.

It also set up a three member committee of ministers to make an on the spot assessment of property damage and crop loss around the temple and recommend on providing relief. The committee will also examine health problems caused by the explosion such as hearing loss among the people of the locality. There were demands that they should be provided with hearing aids.
