Congress leaders react sharply to KC (M) decision

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress leaders, except Oommen Chandy, reacted sharply to Kerala Congress (M) leaving the UDF.

UDF convenor P. P. Thankachan said that there was dichotomy in the stand of Kerala Congress (M).  It was leaving the UDF and yet keeping power sharing in the local bodies. This was not practical.

He noted that the Kerala Congress (M) had not raised any complaints in the UDF. Even now, it was not being specific with its criticisms.

Party Chairman K. M. Mani announced the decision after a special camp of the State Committee of the party and meeting of Steering Committee at Charalkunnu on Sunday.

Jaleel postpones trip to Saudi Arabia

Minister for Local Self Government K. T. JaleelThiruvananthapuram: Minister for Local Self Government K. T. Jaleel has postponed his trip to Saudi Arabia, on a mission to help Keralites affected by loss of jobs, indefinitely following denial of diplomatic visa to him by the Central Government.

The Minister told the media that the Centre had not given any reason for denial of diplomatic passport to him.

KPCC to be reconstituted as prelude to organisational elections

New Delhi: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee will be reconstituted without removing V. M. Sudheeran as KPCC president. This would be followed by organisational elections at all levels.

This was announced by AICC general secretary Mukul Vasnik after discussions with Kerala leaders V. M. Sudheeran, Ramesh Chennithala and Oommen Chandy.
