Kerala has the lowest percentage of agriculture households in the country— 61per cent of the agricultural households in the State reported to have received maximum income from sources other than agricultural activities.

Constituents of United Democratic Front called for better unity in the Front during their discussions with Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Kottayam on Wednesday.
The Muslim League called for intervention of the Congress high command to settle faction fight in the Congress. This was a must for victory in the coming Assembly elections. Similar sentiments were expressed by other constituents such as RSP and JSS also.

The Supreme Court has upheld the liquor policy of Kerala Government that restricted bars to Five Star hotels.
Dismissing an appeal filed by Kerala Bar Hotels Association, Justice Vikramajit Sen and Shiva Kirti Singh said that the Court found no illegality or irrationality with the intention of the State to clamp down on public consumption of alcohol.
“Judicial review is justified only if the policy is arbitrary, unfair or violative of fundamental rights.”

The eighth National Steering Committee on Climate Change approved four projects from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Punjab at a meeting held here Monday.
The projects will be funded under the National Adaptation Fund on Climate Change. Kerala’s project is for ‘Promotion of Integrated Farming System of Kaipad and Pokkali in Coastal Wetlands of Kerala’ at a cost of Rs. 33.73 crore. It envisions integrated farming methods, as climate smart practices to enhance resilience of aquaculture communities to climate change especially sea-level rise that results in severe intrusion of salinity.

Opposition Leader V. S. Achuthanandan will be joining the agitation by the Joint Action Council of Victims of Endosulfan before the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s official residence on January 26 next year.
The endosulfan victims are planning another round of agitation as the promises given by the government nearly two years ago have not been fully met.
