Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told the judicial commission, enquiring into the solar scam and alleged involvement of the Chief Minister’s office in it, that he might have met one of the accused in the scam Saritha S. Nair thrice before her arrest. But no meeting had taken place in connection her solar business.

Minister for Excise, Ports and Fisheries K. Babu resigned as Minister on Saturday.
The resignation follows directive by Thrissur Vigilance Court to register a case against Mr. Babu for allegedly taking bribes for reducing bar licence fees.
Announcing his decision to resign at a press conference in Kochi, the Minister said that conspiracy by CPI (M) was behind the allegations against him.

The National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to Kerala Government over reported denial of the committed relief to the victims of endosulfan.
The Commission took suo motu cognizance of media reports that relief recommended by the Commission was yet to be extended to many victims.

Union Ministry of Human Resources announced on Friday that it had decided to constitute a Judicial Commission to review the sequence of events and circumstances in the context of suicide of research student Rohith Vemula at the Hyderabad University.
The Judicial Commission will establish the facts and correctives in the context of the University and submit submit its report within 3 months.

Director General of Police Jacob Thomas made another dig at Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Saturday.
Speaking at a seminar at Ernakulam Press Club, Mr. Thomas said that installation of Web cameras in offices would not ensure transparency. Such gimmicks are intended to hoodwink the public.
