Thiruvananthapuram- Mangalore Express which left Thiruvananthapuram at 20.40 hrs last night derailed near Karukutty near Aluva around 1.45 am.
As many as 12 coaches have been derailed, but no casualty has been reported. A few passengers suffered minor injuries.

Thiruvananthapuram: The vigilance court here has ordered that investigation into the bar-bribery case against former Minister K. M. Mani should be continued.
Superintendent of Police R. Sukesan, who had investigated the case earlier, had approached the court alleging that then Director of Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau had undermined the case.

Kerala High Court has stayed the decision of State government taking over the allotments to all seats in private self-financing medical colleges.
In an order on a petition filed by the college managements, the Court agreed with the managements’ contention that the action of the government was in contravention to the order of the Supreme Court.

The government has notified an amendment to Kerala Right to Information (Regulation of Fee and Cost) Rules to restrict the free supply of information to those living below the poverty line to 20 pages in A4 size paper.
The notification, issued in January during the administration of Oommen Chandy government, said that the amendment was being made because of misuse of exemption from paying fee by some interested groups.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarai Vijayan and ministers will be taking classes for pupils on the Teachers’ Day (September 5).
Teachers’ Day is celebrated in honour of teachers. This year, the Chief Minister will be inaugurating the programme by taking a class on ‘life style’ to students at the Attakulangara Central High School in Thiruvananthapuram.
