Endosulfan stir settled

Endosulfan victims on hunger strike before Secretariat in January 2016The nine-day-old agitation by joint action council of endosulfan victims was settled on Wednesday following talks between representatives of the victims and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

The list of victims eligible for compensation will be expanded and 610 persons will be included in the list immediately. A three-member committee will undertake classification of victims into three categories on the basis of their requirements.

Government not under threat: Oommen Chandy

Chief Minister Oommen ChandyChief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Wednesday that his government was not under any threat from disclosures being made by accused in the solar scam Saritha S. Nair.

Those making allegations against him were people who had forged his letter pad. If Saritha could prove her allegations, he would quit public life, Mr. Chandy told the media after Cabinet meeting.

Law and order: Chennithala refutes Achuthanandan's criticism

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on Tuesday denied the contention of Opposition Leader V. S. Achuthanandan that the police was failing to check crimes.

The statement of the Opposition Leader is against facts. He was citing isolated cases and raising childish allegations against the Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. Chennithala said.

Chief Minister confers with Advocate General

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Tuesday held discussions with Advocate General K. P. Dhandapani and Director of Prosecution T. Asafali in Kochi on Tuesday.

The meeting assumes importance in view of allegations made by accused in the solar scam Saritha S. Nair before the Commission Inquiring into the scam during the past few days.

Ms. Nair told the Commission today that she would present details about sexual exploitation by VIPs in a sealed cover to the Commission. She did not want the details to be publicised.

Solar Scam: Saritha produces CDs as evidence before Inquiry Commission

Solar heatSaritha Nair, accused in the solar scam, produced four CDs before the Solar Scam Inquiry Commission purported to be phone conversations between her and Benny Behnan, MLA and  Thampanoor Ravi, who are close to the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, and Salim Raj, the suspended gun man of Mr. Chandy .
