The Central government will give assistance for a housing scheme for migrant workers in Kerala.
It will also provide assistance for the project drawn up by the State government for providing health insurance and smart card to migrant workers.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Cabinet on Tuesday approved plans for housing for all, harita Keralam mission and revitalisation of educational sector.
Plans have also been approved for turning government hospitals into patient-friendly institutions. These programmes have the objective of reaching out to the marginalised sections.

Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala has sought suggestions from the public on issues to be raised during the Assembly session beginning on September 26.
In a facebook post, the Opposition Leader said that members of the public could suggest issues ranging from State level to local issues. “We will try to raise them in the Assembly.”

Onam week celebrations concluded in the capital on Sunday with a cultural pageantry and variety entertainment.
Governor P. Sathasivam flagged off the pageant which featured more than 75 floats and various art forms of Kerala. These included Kathakali and folk arts forms. African dance and art forms from nine States were also featured in the pageant.

Supreme Court of India has commuted the death sentence of Govindaswamy, accused in the Soumya murder case.
The Court upheld the life sentence awarded by the trial court, and confirmed by High Court, for rape.
The Court observed that the rape was committed in a most brutal and grotesque manner which justified the imposition of life sentence awarded to him.
