Congress to speed up candidate selection for Assembly election

The Congress will speed up steps for selection of candidates for Assembly elections in Kerala. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, KPCC President V. M. Sudheeran and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala together will play a key role in selecting candidates.

Seat sharing talks with constituents of UDF will be held without delay.

These decisions were taken at the meeting the Congress high command had with Mr. Chandy, Mr. Sudheeran and Mr. Chennithala in New Delhi on Monday.

Assembly elections in April or May: Commission

Court directive on voters list

Kochi: Kerala High Court has directed Election Commission of India to take appropriate action on complaints of dual enrollment by voters in Idukki and Theni districts.

The Court was disposing off a public interest litigation filed by Desiya Paristhithi Congress contending that there’re was large scale inclusion of members in the voters list in Idukki district who were also enrolled in votes list in Tamil Nadu. Specific references were made to Udumbanchola Legislative Assembly constituency and Cumbum Legislative Assembly constituency

Muslim League begins march

Kerala yatraKerala Yatra led by Muslim League leader P. K. Kunjalikutty began from Manjeswaram in Kasaragod on Friday evening with League president Panakkad Syed Hyderali  Shihab Thangal flagging off the march.

The march, being organised as a prelude to Assembly election campaign, will conclude in Thiruvananthapuram on February 11 after traversing all the districts.

Complaints about Tamils registering as voters both in Theni and Idukki districts

VoteLarge numbers of Tamils are allegedly registering as voters both in Theni district of Tamil Nadu and Idukki in Kerala. The authorities are yet to take action on complaints about it, activists say.
